We performed on FRIDAY, JUNE 26 at 8:00 pm at ENVOY ENTERPRISES, 131 Chrystie Street (between Delancey and Broome) on the Lower East Side, NYC.

with very special guest … BLEVIN BLECTUM!

Blevin is an electronic musician who has released many highly regarded recordings. She is also 1/2 of the groundbreaking digital duo Blectum From Blechdom who, in addition to having pretty much the greatest band name ever, won the 2001 Ars Electronica Award of Distinction in Digital Musics for their album “The Messy Jesse Fiesta.” This is like winning a Pulitzer Prize for Electronic Music, folks.

We were thrilled that Blevin agreed to make the trip down from weirdbeat Providence, RI, and that this happened in a central but off-the-beaten-path venue.

Performance: Barbès, March 4th, 2009 as part of Ranjit's 28 Noisy Noises

This was a very special collaborative performance with sound artist/instrument builder Ranjit Bhatnagar. Ranjit created an instrument for each day of the month of February. We performed on these new instruments at the show.

The project and performance were featured on NPR’s All Things Considered on March 7, 2009.

Below is a video (courtesy Peter Shapiro, who was there with his camera) of the entire performance, and five audio excerpts:

We made a CD, Introducing The Glass Bees: Tops Crops Snaps Hots

We’ve sifted through the archives and applied some spit and shine, and are now thrilled to announce the release of our first full-length album, Tops Crops Snaps Hots. The collection compiles highlights of our past web-only releases, remastered and lovingly sequenced into a continuous 63’25” mix,

Tops Crops Snaps Hots is available for sale as a jewel-boxed CD-R for $10 (including domestic US shipping). Please contact us via e-mail to purchase a copy. All proceeds will be used to cover costs and your support will help make future Glass Bees projects possible. There are two editions (so far) of the packaging. The music is exactly the same for each. Please specify which you’d prefer when you order.

The packaging for the first edition features illustrations and hand-carved, hand-stamped type by Jason Das, Each one’s a little bit different, just like you. Here’s four examples:

The second edition is more mass-produced and looks like this:

Tops Crops Snaps Hots was mastered by Jim Bentley, and mixed by Jim, Jason, and Chris at the Fort in Brooklyn. The CD includes the following tracks:
